EC 340 International Economics -
A Policy Approach

Kirsten Wandschneider

Assistant Professor of Economics and IPE

POLICY PAPERS
Policy papers are short papers, 4-5 pages in length, in which you use the economic tools learned in class to take a position in a current debate.  You should explain both  sides of the debate, but you have to take a side and must explain which evidence has persuaded you and why.
These papers will help you to think critically about some of the issues discussed in class and will give you the opportunity to explore some of the topics further.  Policy papers should be based on the course readings and the models discussed in class, but you are welcome to extend your readings beyond the required material.

Your papers should be typed in 12pt font with standard margins, stapled, and should contain your name in the upper right hand corner of each page.
Also, you should list all papers you are referencing in a bibliography.

Topic I (due 10/18): CAFTA, yes or no! Discuss the pros and cons... Don't forget to end with your recommendation!

Topic II (due 12/06): Does the world need an international lender of last resort?
